Eclipse, Spring and Thorpe Park Mar. 8th, 2007 @ 09:28 am
Last saturday wasn't just a run-of-the-mill full moon, but we were also lucky enough (well, those of us that noticed it) to get a blood red circle, courtesy of the good old planet earth.
We wandered up to the stone circle at Hilly Fields to get a better look at it, and while it was a lovely clear sky with many stars visible etc, the ground was a tad too muddy to stay there for very long. As we were leaving though a couple turned up looking like they were about to get with the baby makings, although I haven't been able to find any reference to a blood moon being good for the sexings. I suppose it might have just been coincidence, but anyway. Did anyone else get to see the eclipse?

It's nice finally to be light in the mornings when I have to head over to Cirencester. I have to get up before 6am in order to catch the 6:30ish train into London, to get across London and back out the other side etc etc, and it's really nice to not be sat in the dark at the station wishing I was back in bed. Now I'm sat in the light wishing I was back in bed ;)
It's also getting lighter in the evenings... not quite "light" when I get home (especially last night - train delay meant I didn't get back until gone 10pm) but it will be soon enough.

Oh, finally - we're going to Thorpe Park this saturday. Anyone want to come with?
Park opens at 10am, so we'll be on the 8:28 train from Waterloo to Staines and then we'll get the shuttlebus from Staines. So far there are 7 of us going that I know of, in two groups (we'll meet up there)
I'd offer crash space, but it might already be taken up by a few bodies - will make another post if more space becomes available or if anyone drops out.
Weather is currently shaping up for sun so it should be an excellent day :3

Minion! and new toy! Feb. 26th, 2007 @ 10:40 pm
Looks like all of this work I've been doing interviewing people hasn't been for nothing (this time). We decided to offer one of the two positions we had advertised to one of the recent batch of interviewees... and he has accepted the offer. \o/ Hooray!
It means that in one month he'll start work and I'll have someone to take some of the load off :3

In other news, work have purchased a swanky new laptop for me (to replace my aged desktop computer. This is a good thing (tm) because it means I'm now posting from bed, while I stream TV shows wirelessly from my media-drive across the network \o/

Consider my mind broken Feb. 9th, 2007 @ 04:11 pm
:psyduck:

I'm a big fan of smallville, have been since near enough the start back when I was at university.... Today I just sort of had my mind blown.

When Jimmy Olsen became a semi-regular I thought "oh cool - He looks familiar - he must've been in a previous episode" (my mind was drawn back to an episode involving a precognition).
Then I re-watched the Xmen movies and my mind went "Hmmm, iceman looks familiar"
Slow dawning.... 2+2 = 5.
Nope - I was completely wrong.
Not only was the guy who plays Jimmy not in smallville before, but the guy who plays Iceman is in fact a completely different person, and the person who I thought Jimmy was originally (who was in Running with Scissors) is another completely different person.... but all 3 actors have been in smallville at one point or other to just add to my poor brain's confusion.

Joseph Cross (The precognition dude in smallville.... and in Running with Scissors)
Shawn Ashmore (Iceman... and the kid in smallville who could steal superman's powers)
Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy Olsen)
^^ of course it doesn't help that two of them are twins....

Do guns really cause violence? Feb. 9th, 2007 @ 11:39 am
Stolen totally from [info]dunos on IRC.

This site is conducting an ongoing experiment to find out if guns really do cause violence. If you see anything suspicious please let me know because I can't watch it all the time ;)

» wii skins, lack of minions, and workstuff
I meant to post this a couple of days ago actually but I've been somewhat busy.
The skins for my wii arrived :D

Images Here.

In other news, the chap we'd pegged to get the job after last week's interviews has declined the position. Would have been great to have him on board but for now it's back to a big pile of CVs I guess.

Chris has just gone on maternity leave, and Alex is semi-permanently relocated upstairs which means it's near enough just me in the office now (given that Mike is only in half of the time anyway, and is likely to be covering meetings when he is in).

Ooo and while I remember, I popped into lush after someone tipped me off that they were going to discontinue another thing I like soon (Sonic Death Monkey shower gel) - picked up a Wiccy Magic Muscles bar because I've grown used to the smell on my bedside table and I'm all out, and the lovely staff gave me freebies smelling of vanilla and coconut :9 *bounces off to the bath*

» Wii points... stars? freebies?
Some of you will already know this, but nintendo-europe have announced that "soon" you will be able to purchase wii points with 'stars' from your nintendo-europe account. You get stars for registering your products, so basically just going to Nintendo Europe (with my referrer code included for good measure) and registering your nintendo stuff you should be able to get enough stars together to get some games for your Virtual Consoles. You also get 200 stars to start with, and 5 stars every day you visit nintendo.com.

Nintendo said:
Also, if you are a registered member of the Nintendo of Europe website (www.nintendo.co.uk) you can purchase Wii Points in the Stars Catalogue. By registering Nintendo products (such as a Wii console and software) you are awarded Stars that you can exchange for various goodies, including Wii Points.**

**Purchasing of Wii Points in the Stars Catalogue will be available at a later date.

but it can't hurt to get ahead of the game. You have to link your wii to your NoE account or something, but I'll post more details on that when I actually get my own stuff registered in my account.
» Wheeeeeeeeee a Wiiiiii (and other toys)!
I managed to procure myself a wii today :)
After the disappointment that was Saturday Morning, I got the phone number of a guy who takes the deliveries in Game (Lewisham) and managed to persuade him to put one on the side for me to pick up at lunchtime... and so I did :D
While I was out - my Wacom Intuos 3 (A5) turned up at the office as another gadget (wheeeee) so now I've got a new wii and a new graphics tablet to play with!

Gamewise I grabbed Zelda, Red Steel and WiiPlay (along with the bundled WiiSports)- that should keep me occupied for a while.

Oh, and if anyone wants it - my number is 1143 4344 2636 7823
