Argh! Just when I didn't need something like this to happen I've managed to break my office key. Now I'm stuck sat on a stairwell until Alex arrives, assuming he's even coming in today - otherwise I'll have to head home and work from there.
The coconut orchestra the other night was fantabulously nutty. Terry Gilliam and the other Terry (who I can never remember properly) did this wonderful instruction thing on stage about how to use the coconuts :D
Got to meet Mat Bowles, Naomi, Dan and Rosie, and some friends of friends I don't really know. Was also nice to see some familiarish faces like DJ Psyche turn up - both of us queueing for the same coconut lot with rather neon combination of hair :D If you're on facebook - you can see some pictures. Otherwise I guess you can't :P

Well Thorpe-Park was, as expected, awesome. Myself, Hugh, Alex, Becky, Mary and Phoebe all crammed into the back of Hugh's car for the short journey between Staines train station and the park itself. Unfortunately, about half of the park (the good half) was shut so we didn't get to go on Nemesis, nor Detonator, etc. There was enough to fill up the day though (Depth Charge, Colossus, Miss Hippo's Fungle Safari, Quantum, Mr Monkey's Banana Ride, Chief Ranger's Carousel, Vortex [never going on this again], Zodiac) - and more than enough spinning around upside down suspended above the ground to make me feel uneasy. We didn't go on Stealth because it didn't open until the last minute and it looked like there was about 20 hours worth of queueing for it. Quite glad too tbh, I like my trousers black, not brown.
After the park we went back to Becky's place for some cardgames and drinking (well, not me drinking obviously), and from there back to my place for sleepingus maximus.
There are some pictures from Alex's camera which I'll try to sort out at some point.→ Mind: happy → Music: Lacuna Coil - Senzafine

Looks like all of this work I've been doing interviewing people hasn't been for nothing (this time). We decided to offer one of the two positions we had advertised to one of the recent batch of interviewees... and he has accepted the offer. \o/ Hooray! It means that in one month he'll start work and I'll have someone to take some of the load off :3
In other news, work have purchased a swanky new laptop for me (to replace my aged desktop computer. This is a good thing (tm) because it means I'm now posting from bed, while I stream TV shows wirelessly from my media-drive across the network \o/→ Mind: calm → Music: AFI - The Interview

Ok, so I now have a teeensy bit of a sore throat. Must've been something to do with the gig last night ;)
I must admit I was a little hesitant as to how good dudeulike's band would be - you know, it would be that horrbile situation where they're really enthusiastic and you really hate them all, but I was pleasantly surprised - more than pleasantly surprised. They were excellent. How would I describe them... folk-singing/sea-shanty/irish/rock/drink loving/pyrate band I guess.
I went as a pirate of course, with a borrowed shirt, borrowed waistcoat, but my own boots and breeches... and was very happy to see a large portion of the crowd over the evening also turned up in pirate attire. Ended up chatting to one of my Exes and her partner for the evening, in amongst talking to the actual band and enjoying the performance. Sorry again to matgb for not noticing you stood behind me for the first set, I was too busy buckling my swash or somesuch.
Photos are being 'processed' at the moment (read: uploaded somewhere) but they'll follow in a later post. Now I have to find someway to heal my throat enough to speak, and get ready for the Museum.
Edit: Done - Photos here→ Mind: mellow → Music: Pyrates - Sally Brown

» How often do you meet your childhood heroes?
I don't claim to have many heroes because in reality I don't - I admire a lot of people for work that they've done, but there are a few names I could pull out of the air who stand out above the rest for their contribution to my youth. Amongst this relatively short list of names, is Peter Wood.... who I happen to be interviewing tomorrow.
This guy (along with others) practically fashioned my free time between 1989 and 1998!
I'm practically weeing myself with excitement, and resisting the urge to put the Transport Tycoon theme as my ringtone for the day.
I was really *not* looking forwards to tomorrow - I've got a long way to travel to do these interviews and I'm gonna be super-tired by the time I eventually get home again, but now it's not looking so bad.

» Unknown and Underappreciated from 2006?
I watched this the other night, and felt it was worth sharing with you guys.
Altered (2006) IMDB. Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller
15 years ago, 5 guys were abducted but only 4 returned. Understandably they were freaked out by the event, and it never helped that no-one put any faith in what they had to say... The film starts however, with them managing the improbable and CAPTURING one of the aliens. These guys seriously don't know what the hell to do, so they bag it - chain it - slap a mask over it's face, and take it to a friend's nearby (isolated) home.... which is when things start getting interesting.

The acting is ok, and it's definitely worth seeing if you're after a monster thriller. Tension all over the place and the effects aren't bad for a film in this class. Jump scares, cheesy character interaction in places, a few gory scenes - it's all there. I don't really know why it was missed by a lot of people in 2006 (it was directed by Eduardo Sanchez of "The Blair Witch Project") unless it fell flat on it's face in test-screenings. I still think it's nice to have a horror film out which *isn't* yet another remake.

» Wheeeeeeeeee a Wiiiiii (and other toys)!
I managed to procure myself a wii today :) After the disappointment that was Saturday Morning, I got the phone number of a guy who takes the deliveries in Game (Lewisham) and managed to persuade him to put one on the side for me to pick up at lunchtime... and so I did :D While I was out - my Wacom Intuos 3 (A5) turned up at the office as another gadget (wheeeee) so now I've got a new wii and a new graphics tablet to play with!
Gamewise I grabbed Zelda, Red Steel and WiiPlay (along with the bundled WiiSports)- that should keep me occupied for a while.
Oh, and if anyone wants it - my number is 1143 4344 2636 7823
